Prospective Minister to Visit

Dr. Charles [Chuck] Edwin Summers will be visiting with us on

Sunday, October 7, 2007. The Pulpit Committee has talked to Dr.

Summers and we have had a telephone interview with him. He will

fill the pulpit on this Sunday and the Pulpit Committee will be meeting

with him during his visit. Dr. Summers currently lives in Middlesboro,

Kentucky. We look forward to visiting with Dr. Summers and his

wife during their visit. Make plans now to be in worship on October 7!

Sunday September 30

One Sunday morning Worship Service at 11:00 AM

This promises to be a very special day filled with Biblical storytelling

and featuring a uniquely personal and dramatic telling of your favorite

Bible stories. At 9:45 AM, Biblical Storytellers Tom and Amelia

Boomershine will demonstrate the “Storykeepers” family Bible study. They

will share how to tell the Bible story and your family stories in a

memorable way.

They will tell the Luke’s Travel Narrative in worship. The Membership

Ministry Team will provide lunch for everyone. Please call the church

office to make a reservation. The afternoon workshop from 1-2:30 PM will

focus on learning to tell a biblical story. We will make a storyboard,

learn storytelling techniques and tell the biblical story in table groups.

This event is open to the community. Invite your friends and neighbors!

Adult Bible Study to Continue this Sunday

Gene Derryberry, Interim Minister, is leading an Adult Bible Study on

Sunday evenings at 6:00 PM. Session 3 will be this Sunday, September 30,

at 6:00 PM.

Disciple Bible Study – an 8 week study – “Invitation to the New

Testament - A study of the Gospel of Matthew” – no prerequisites!

It’s not too late to join the eight persons participating! To review the

materials, receive a study book, and sign up, please call Gene.

Wednesday’s Wonderful Worship Continues

Children’s Ministry After School Program Continues Every Wednesday

3:15 – 4:30 PM

We invite all children age three through 6th grade to join us.

Snack – Bible Story – Crafts – Music - Recreation - Fellowship

Gather in the church Fellowship Hall – Church members, their friends and

neighbors are all welcome. Join us for fun!

Christian Education Ministry Team News

There are two adult Sunday School classes that begin at 10:00 AM. We

invite you to come at 9:45 AM for fellowship and coffee. This is also a

time to share prayer concerns and join in prayer.

Charlie Byers is teaching the adult Discussion class using the

Smith-Helwys Uniform Series Bible study quarterly. Wilma Deskins is

teaching the “Kitchen class” and she is focusing on women of the Bible.

We need teachers for classes with children and youth! We need leaders

for youth fellowship!

Please, contact Stacy Chaney or Gene Derryberry to volunteer or to help

in our search for paid leadership with youth and children.

Nominating Committee Continues Work

The Nominating Committee is Gene Sturgill, chair, Bruce Chaney, Taylor

Chaney, Paula Thompson and Jane Robinson. They have distributed

nominating forms and are now collecting them to continue their work.

Please, turn in your nominations to any committee member or the church

office. The committee hopes to receive all nominations by Sunday

September 30. All leadership positions will be reviewed at the October

14 Board meeting and posted for review by the congregation. All

leadership is elected at the November 11 Annual Meeting.
